10:00AM - 3:00PM

Warrensburgh Beautification Inc. (WBI) will present a Summer Garden Tour & Presentation on Saturday, July 12th from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Our self-guided tour will feature both public and private gardens in the Town of Warrensburgh and surrounding areas.  Brief histories of the gardens will be provided to enhance the experience of the tour.  Each garden will feature a native plant that benefits pollinators.  Refreshments will be offered at the presentation.  Raffle prizes will be donated by local businesses.  Proceeds to benefit ongoing projects, including a new video to draw attention to our community's historic resources and attract investors who appreciate the value of our architectural heritage and its correlation to economic development.

Drew Monthie is a native of the Southern Adirondacks, a horticulturalist, garden designer and ecologist. For decades he was the Owner of Ecologic Consulting LLC and a Professor of Natural Sciences, committed to teaching about the importance of using native plants to provide beauty and preserve biodiversity.  In 2013 he started a new business, Star Flower Studio NY, photographing flora, fauna and landscape. His work will be on exhibit at Richards Library, with an Artist’s Reception on June 10th at 5 p.m.

Climate change has been visibly affecting ecosystems for a few decades now. Winters are often warmer and summers hotter. The phenology of landscapes is being altered by earlier or later bloom times, unpredictable frost occurrences, changing precipitation patterns and swings in temperature during critical times for wildlife. This has major implications for plants and their inter-dependencies on wildlife like pollinators. Gardeners see these changes and their effects in real time. The presentation, Changing Climate: Plants, Pollinators and People, will explore how climate change is affecting plants, pollinators and ecosystems and consider strategies to help sustain critical populations of native pollinators. The presentation will begin at 3 p.m. and be held at the Warren County CCE on Schroon River Road. Q & A session will follow.

Tickets are available prior to July 12th at Edward Jones, 3755 Main Street and the Warrensburgh Riverfront Farmers' Market. Program Pick Up and Day of Tour Ticket Sales will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Warrensburgh Museum of Local History, 3754 Main Street.  Advance Sales: $15.00 and Day of Sales: $20.00.
