Cyber Security Webinar

Tuesday, February 28, 7 p.m., via Zoom

Cyber Crime is real.  Hackers around the world are making a living preying on others, stealing their identity and then extorting them for money.  No matter how aware you are when it comes to scammers gaining access to your personal information, it can happen to you.

In response to this ever present threat, there will be a Cyber Safety Webinar "Protecting Your Data: Aware and Prepared" co-hosted by Edward Jones Financial Advisor John M. Gable and Phillip Martin, CIMA, Senior Regional Consultant of MFS Fund Distributors on February 28th at 7 p.m. broadcast via Zoom.  This event is free, and members of our local communities and beyond are welcome to learn more about the common types of threats and attacks, as well as how to protect yourself, friends and family, and your finances.

Following the presentation, Teresa Whalen, Chair of Warrensburgh Beautification and community volunteer, will share how she recently was not only hacked through Facebook Messenger, but extorted through texts.   Learn how the FBI helped her to regain control of her email and access to her personal Facebook account linked to non-profit organization accounts.

In closing, David Hinsdale, FBI Special Agent in the Cyber Crimes Unit,  will answer questions.

For those who may not have access to Zoom, we encourage community organizations, churches, libraries, schools and other venues to reach out and offer a location for viewing together.

For questions, more information on how to register and the Zoom link, either contact John Gable or Trish Gardner at 518.623.0046 or by email Trish.Gardner@edwardjones.com.   You may also contact Teresa Whalen at 518-466-5497 or by email taawhalen@yahoo.com
